Dr.
Hasmukh Haridas Adhia has come more into limelight as a privy of Prime Minister
Modi & also as a strong pillar to implement one of the biggest tax reforms
in India since 1st July 2017-THE GST. I read his interview in newspapers and
got into the work to know him a little. This is not only because he added major
share to implement GST & knew Demonetization officially before its
declaration but because he is an outstanding IAS Officer and moreover a
prominent bureaucrat.
Dr. Adhia son of Haridas
Adhia & Shantaben Adhia belonged to a middle class family. He was a resilient
follower of spirituality & Yoga. He has done his Ph.D. in Yoga under thesis
of ‘Impact of Yoga on Management’ from the Swami Vivekananda University, Bengaluru.
He has been in Gujarat as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Gujarat, Managing Director, Gujarat State
Financial Services Ltd (GSFSL).etc. Modi (politics) & Dr. Adhia (Bureaucracy)
had a close association in planning, till Dr. Adhia left for course of
spirituality at Swami Vivekananda University. After successful completion of
his course he returned back to work with a spiritual change. His work was quite notable and this could not
remain unseen by then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi. As soon as Modi became
the Prime Minister of India he had deep inside in his mind to call up Dr. Adhia
in Central Government as a need of a person with such varied caliber. Not
surprisingly Dr. Adhia was promoted as the Finance Secretary of India. Dr. Adhia has not joined to Civil Services to
get chunks of money but beyond that as to help our less fortunate brothers
& sisters to get what they deserve. It is a feeling to uplift India in
comparison to other nations and to make people’s life simpler. His more than half
salary remains unspent, not even on hobbies as his liking & work are the
same. He himself works 18hrs a day with his team to deliver the best &
drawback-less schemes. Within Dr. Adhia has been promoted to the Revenue Secretary.
Now he’s been looked upon to become the Cabinet Secretary of India, the highest
post any civil servant can ever dream of.
The biggest tax reform
which was launched at the midnight of 1st July 2017 is a result of full-fledged
work by Dr. Adhia & dedicated team of officers. He conducted 4000 workshops
to deduce the fear of unknown-GST from the minds of common people.
Dr. Adhia indeed is a crystal
clear example of exclusive & dedicated bureaucrat which I look upon to
become.
