'Belief' & 'Hope'
(This is personal take on the true meaning of these words. There is excessive content on these words and it seems lot of people have seriously dived deep into its understanding. I believe with experience, the gravity and perspective towards these changes. This short writeup is how I see it now, it may evolve in future.)

You need to 'believe' than to 'hope'. Belief is
stronger than hope. Hope it seems is an abstract rendezvous. When
you believe something, it must have some kind of conscious or sub-conscious
analysis or reason for you to think so. You certainly don’t believe things
unless they’ve passed the test of your own conscience. In another
perspective, belief is an idea, tangible enough to be acted upon. Belief makes
or breaks the world and is contagious. It seems to me that this contagiousness
of 'belief' depends more on how it is marketed. A belief which is subpar on
rationale but rich in marketing would travel far. However, it would not be
sustainable, only to be replaced by another richly marketed belief. A true
belief would be the one which is immortal, tested for thousands of years and
extraordinarily benefits the human race.
On the other hand, ‘Hope’ is the bouncy word
which we throw at each other to reinforce the feel-good factor. I
don't want to sound pessimistic, but there is a very fancy representation
of hope. Hoping for something has a positive initiation but its somehow
portrayed as a getaway from sheer hard work and persistence.
'You just wish something for long enough, say it
enough, it'll happen' is the notion seems prevalent now. Isn't it reinforcing
feel good factor? Isn't this too a belief which is richly marketed and perhaps
lacks strong rationale.
In a complete rhetoric, if you find yourself alone
in dense forest, nowhere to go, won't you use every cell of your body to get out, but
keeping a realistic expectation you may not be able to, rather than just keep hoping someone will
save you.
Hope is some sort of last resort. If you totally
can’t do anything about a situation or person you hope it finds its best
possible outcome. Do I believe that world will be a better place than it is
now? definitely not, but I hope it does. I would say there should be fewer and
fewer things you hope and more & more things you rightly believe.
It’s easy to mingle hope and faith in this context.
However, I am complete proponent of having faith. Faith is complete surrender
to a person, place, belief, etc. It’s something that humbles you, keeps you
grounded. No matter what you achieve, wherever you go, you keep your faith and
know you're just speck of dust in the universe.
