13 going on 30 - Review(Spoiler)
Refreshing, retro, naïve. A simple turn of events realigning a 13 yr old's beliefs in the things or people that should actually matter rather than the ones who are deceptive and fickle to whom one looks up to. This tale expects us to reaffirm our beliefs and choices about the people or things around us and whom should we trust and what should actually matter to us.
A 13 yr old, Jenna, dreaming about being thirty, flirty and thriving looking peer validations for funky things is magically transformed into her 30's with exactly the life she wanted but with her 13 yr old conscience . She now has the things she dreamt about, but the innocence in peril and none real connections. She finds herself spoilt. Gradually she gets hold of things and brings her 13 yr outlook in her work and life. All along she has her best friend Matt whom she'd ignored in her childhood but now vividly gets to know what she was missing when he was to marry someone else. At the day of Matt's marriage Jenna tries to convince how she had changed and why he should marry her, but he as lucid at it could be, refuses, saying he'd moved on and she should too.
In the end she's again transformed back to her 13 yr old life and now choses the real life she ought to.
The filming of the film is quite traditional nothing appealing but the sound tracks are distinctive and widely appreciated. The writing is what keeps the story simple and so a shoutout to the writers.
A simple yet novel watch!
